When being pursued

they can change directionand even flip completely around while in full sprint. They are unique from the large and very beautiful Oryx to the unique Gerenuk that stands up on its hind legs and reaches leaves and tasty tid bids from trees. Of course the Wildebeest has the greatest impact on the environment, they are the strange, but dominant traveling herd on the plains. Each year over a million Wildebeest migrate north in the spring from southern Tanzania to the Masai Mara in southern Kenya. In September and October, they return to the Serengeti plains in Tanzania. This great migration is an awe inspiring and fascinating wonder of the world.

Wildebeest are not the only species to migrate,

many Zebra as well as other antelope species also migrate and travel long distances out on the plains between bush country, river forest, and plains. See if you can spot the following species: Oryx, Eland, Impala, Waterbuck, Reedbuck, Dik-Dik, Steenbok, Topi, Hartebeest, Grant ’s Gazelle, Thomson’s Gazelle, Springbok, and of course the Gerenuk. They’re all on this site somewhere-Can you find them? There are grassland, bushland, and woodland grass and brush eaters. They all have some form of hoove, and they all have some type of horn.
