Cheetahs- Divas of the Plains

Approximately 550 square miles, is surrounded by high climbing hills to the north and to the south. The different levels of plains and river valleys provide a rolling, yet vast plains area. Here, thick bush areas are spotted throughout, along with Acacias, Sausage, and Mahogany trees. Cheetahs roam the higher plains and post themselves, usually, on high rocks and boulders from where they can watch the different antelope species that graze on the grasslands.

I’ve spent some time with these
seemingly docile,

soft and humble creatures of the plains. There coloring, while it appears all the same, are different and varies by their location and habitat. Cheetahs are shy and somewhat wary predators. However, they are wondrous in their sleek ability to move in elegant, and graceful leaps, bounds, and even when they walk, their long elegant strides seem as though they never touch the ground. It seems as though they’re preserving and storing all their energy for the hunt.

They stalk gracefully, keeping low to the ground,

hiding, and then in flashes they seem to be at full speed as if they’ve exploded into a full racing sprint. Even in their take downs, they don’t appear violent, but yet decisive. Beautiful and yes, even romantic, these sleek predators of the high plains have deep orange eyes that are inquisitive, deep and inviting. If ever I’ve experienced any animal that had the ultimate in feminine grace, it is these creatures, from the look in their deep inquisitive eyes, to their very walk and demeanor. They often live and travel in pairs. They are dedicated, loyal and caring partners. Once you get to know them, it is almost impossible to realize how efficient a predator and hunter they are.
