The Masai are a very unique intriguing people.

They are considered a closed society.
Their dress is bright and colorful. They walk everywhere, sometimes over
miles of difficult and dangerous terrain. They live in villages that are protected by fences that surround
the entire village. There are usually several huts made of mud blocks (cow dung and sticks).
They are a tall warrior people who raise cattle. Their staple food is a mixture of cow’s blood and milk.
They also raise goats. Young children begin work at a very early age. I saw young boys who were under
ten yearsold herding cattle. Young men go through warrior training from about the age of eleven.
You will see a picture here of a group of young men outside of the Taranguire park
who were going through warrior training.

You must be very careful communicating with and
taking pictures of The Masai. You must have permission and usually barter with them.
I was able totake these pictures because my guide Omari negotiated with them,
I paid them five dollars and Omari gave them several
Ostrich feathers ( symbols of bravery and courage)
